Location
Mount Carroll, located in the unglaciated hills of northwest Illinois, is 140 miles west of Chicago and 10 miles east of the Mississippi River. Mount Carroll is a small town of about 1800 residents. It boasts a National Register historic district. There are no stoplights in town and many streets are still paved with cobblestone. Beautiful landscapes of rolling farm land, breathtaking views of the Mississippi River, and quaint rural life are some of the quintessential features of this area. Leisure activities include summer stock theatre, antique shopping, hiking, and just relaxing.
